The Developer

iRateTunes was created by me, Jonathan Lipps, in April of 2005. I'd never made a Mac application before, and wanted to try my hand at something simple. As it happened, one of the tools I'd been wanting for a while was something whereby I could rate my iTunes songs with a keystroke. So, I decided I'd try and code that. For development, I chose to work with Applescript Studio, because I was looking at doing fairly basic iTunes interfacing, and Applescript seemed the quick and easy way to approach things.

Luckily, Apple has made it easy to actually build Cocoa applications with Applescript, and so I was able to use the Interface Builder to create the UI very quickly. My code is ugly and un-thought-out, but it works so far, and I am certainly open to continue developing iRateTunes if other people find it useful. If you are one of these people, I'd love to hear about it. Let me know at jlipps [at] mac.
